#philosophy and/or #meditation nerds!
I need some stuff on my reading list…
I’m on a bit of a personal journey at the moment and I’m having a bit of difficulty finding things to read that are in English and aren’t completely disappointing.
I’m seeing at the minute that a lot of books covering Pagan, Gaelic, Shinto, and Buddhist topics and culture are packaged as either magic or self help books. Completely hollowing out any and all meaning that’s in the originating culture OR turning it into fantasy play culture.
Beyond appropriating, it’s outright just taking the bits that ‘sound good’ and making it into what could be a LinkedIn post.
“What Northern European Paganism taught me about B2C sales” should be the title of some of them.
Or.
“Buddhist Chants to Ask for Pay Rises To: greatest hits”.
Help!
