if something is happening intermittently, then a good rule of thumb is that you've *probably* fixed it if it doesn't happen for twice as long as the longest gap between events before.
So if something breaks every few days, and at longest every 7 days, then you have *some* confidence you've improved things if it doesn't break for 7x2 == 14 days.
