I just tooted an offhand snarky bit of "security" advice.
"Have you tried turning it off, and then just leaving it off?"
I want to add, however, that *for real* "off" does not actually mean off. With many, many devices, "off" means a sneaky low-power mode that continues to pull power, to continue silent surveillance and/or continue to "phone home".
If these are the reasons you are turning something "off" --
you need to actually unplug the bitch.
