The crews here are supposed to use something that kills trees but not grasses. It's all poison of course but I can't stop them. But I like arundo donax; it grows about sixteen feet high and I harvest the stems for garden stakes. The more garden stakes the better; I even use stakes where I don't have plants, because the dragonfly airforce that protects my garden from excess flying insect pests is strictly a one-dragonfly-per-stake organization.
