My daughter's set to turn 18 soon. Last night we were standing in the living room talking, the tree and lights and presents etc behind her and just for a moment, just maybe a couple tenths of a second, I saw her as she was when she was little. Giggling and eyes brimming with excitement and anticipation for Christmas.
I love my daughter just as much as I ever have. It's amazing watching her gaining independence and becoming her own person.
But man, do I miss the little girl she was. I imagine I always will.
