When I was teaching I must have read Sendak's Where the Wild Things Are 100s of times. I eventually memorised it without meaning to.
Every sentence in that book is perfectly shaped and polished so smooth so that there's nothing to snag the mind. There are little internal rhymes and assonance. It really is a perfect text.
I just keep trying to be as good.
