Like some of the replies mentioned, I think for a lot of folks it's just gut-level easier to hate or seek "revenge". I used to gravitate towards revenge... when I was a miserable teenager getting bullied. It didn't take long for me to see the error in that, to see that forgiveness and peace is worth the psychological effort.
I also think there are folks who just can't intellectually grasp those obvious solutions.
