Let me tell you about a fun little practice occurring in the healthcare space (Medical practice owner perspective). Medicare Advantage plans are enrolling people who are not of the mental capacity to understand what happened. So far I've come across a patient that's in a nursing home facing a $15,000 bill because they switched insurance during their stay and the facility hadn't a clue, and another patient switched from Medicare to Humana and didn't know it during their second eye surgery. Now facing a large bill unless I can get a retro-authorization from their new insurance. Be careful out there, check on your loved ones at the beginning of every year to see if they've been switched, especially if they are in a nursing home or not quite 100%. ☮️
