Thank you! I am doing much better now, I passed the 5 year mark so I'm down to only needing annual checkups.

My cancer experience was varied. When I got the diagnosis and it was found to be aggressive, that's when people stopped contacting me. Prior to treatment and even when I was going through treatment, certain family members still expected me to do regular things like family vacations, even though I was exhausted. Trying to explain the exhaustion of cancer and the treatments turned out to be pointless as it was ignored.

I was amazed at how many people took everything personally. As if I wasn't going out and doing things with them because I was just a mean person treating them badly. And some people even took offense to how I communicated my cancer diagnosis to them! Like I wasn't being considerate enough of their needs in this trying time of learning about their dear friend's diagnosis, woe is them. 🙄

Many people also tried to downplay my diagnosis, or give me advice on strange "treatments" to try. It was as if they wanted to appear helpful, but if I didn't improve or if I was worse than they expected, then this was a personal insult to them and their attempts.

The thing with my cancer though, for me this was a temporary experience. I am better now. In fact, my autoimmune disease symptoms have been better after the cancer. I feel for you and for everyone who has this as their constant lived experience. It's tiring in itself, and there is really no excuse for people to act this way towards you.
