GM from the icy plains beneath the Olympics! It’s so cold the chickens opted out of leaving the coop. They’ve got water and food in there - and so do the wild birds who usually share their grain. I gave the Organic Chickadees (and other little ones) a bowl of layer mash, scattered sunflower seeds for the birds who hang out in the paddock, and put out some random shredded cheese for the ravens.
The equines are totally fine, of course. I like for them to have nibbles available all day when it’s this cold (or when it’s gross icy rain), so I’ll go give everybody small meals throughout the day. Miss D doesn’t need or want a blanket unless she gets soaked in a cold, windy storm, and I haven’t even broached the subject with the fluffy feral donkey-boy. The trough is full, the heater is working, and the fish isn’t even huddled up under the heater this year!
(The fish was very cold its first winter, when it was like 3” long, and it basically hibernated under the tank heater that year. But it’s big and burly now!)
