For me, the prime directive is becoming to ‘preserve human agency’ (PHA, for short). I see a full scale assault on our society to destroy the sense of individual self that we have built up over the last two thousand plus years.

I am sure that there are many quite happy (ecstatic) to return to the past in the form of a Digital Sparta, that vaunted opponent of the fragile Athenian democracy, that society from which we draw the bulk of our Western democratic institutions and traditions.

Read up on Sparta, and you’ll know what I mean. Preserving human agency is only way to counter Digital Sparta.
