US right wing runs with the narrative that abolishing Roe vs Wade is a victory of democracy, because they tend to consider any decision from a bigger government (federal) moving to a smaller government (state) equates to more freedom and control for the people.

The trouble is, counter intuitively, if that federal law is one that is protecting individual freedom (eg Roe vs Wade) making it something open to debate at any government level, is actually a reduction of individual freedom.
