Today, I unexpectedly recalled how, back in the days when a Carbon Trading System was being discussed, NZ gov't was champing at the bit to sign up to it, having been informed by 'scientists' that NZ would have a massive credit. Turns out, the 'scientists' consulted based their recommendation on bad science: bad data, and bad models. Turned out that, thanks to colonial excesses & habitat destruction, NZ was a massive *carbon debtor*... Sadly, I don't think the science is much better today.
