I'm even newer to APRS than I am to #AmateurRadio — since I just set APRS up in the past hour or so. I left the new-to-me FTM-350 in the default 1200bps mode. What are the tradeoffs between 1200bps and 9600bps?
I'm a little surprised that I'm getting stations 190+ miles away on 144.39 — or maybe these are digipathed to me somehow? Default digipath selection on this radio is WIDE1-1, WIDE2-1. What's the best place to learn more about this?
