You know what happened to the Hidenberg right? That's why, plane's provide way more control to a flight experience, also they're designed to be able to be glided in a lot of cases even if there's an engine failure, they're a lot faster too.
The only thing that beats them out really are osprey's and harriers and that's because they can be landed vertically.
