A humanoid from the planet Kwejian. Book can connect empathetically with animals and plants. His father was a poacher, but Book turned away from that life, and works as a courier to support his efforts in saving endangered species from poachers. It is on such a mission that Book runs into Micheal Burnham. Book's starship, a scout type of vessel, is just referred to as Book's ship. The only other crew member on Book's ship is his companion, whose name is Grudge.
