Perhaps the best example is a DVM. An automated system (some might call some more advanced ones AI; why not, the term is all but meaningless now anyway), which is capable of going out and doing tasks to respond to prompts by users (or, possibly, other agents). You could have an agent, for instance, go make you reservations for dinner on your behalf. Unlike an LLM, it's not just giving you feedback, but actually taking your input and using it to take action elsewhere.
