Three main reasons the state enforces only one fixed set of names given at birth:
1. Taxation purposes, and in the case of working class people, to finance capitalists taxing the working class people's work.
2. Punitive purposes, should the person have ideas that run contrary to the state's, making it easy for cops to punish, jail, torture –or even better– make them not exist.
3. For social control and apartheid purposes, making it easier to control various undesirable minorities.
