This might sound like a boomer rant, but I really can't understand this: I like observing people's behaviors. Several times in the past few days, I've seen young people talking on the phone with friends. They use the speakerphone at a low volume (to the point where it's hard to understand what's being said) and shout into the phone because, I imagine, the person on the other end is doing the same. I get the usefulness of speakerphone when you're multitasking, but if you're walking (on the street or in a mall) and still holding the phone, why not just put it to your ear? No listening or privacy issues, no need to shout, and lower battery consumption.
