The only way the monetary base expands is by convincing ordinary people (including executives of large firms) that it’s sensible and prudent to speculate on future economic prospects. This system is a giant confidence game. A con, a long one too. The collapse of society should not depend on the confidence of the masses to bet on their own future at the expense of their children and their ability to pay for it.
