Do you make any effort to make or avoid alliteration?
Alliteration is the basis of Old Norse/Old English poetry; e.g. Beowulf is written in alliterative verse. Why? Because these poems were created to be performed orally, and the cadence of alliteration pleases the ear.
I use it in stories I'm developing for narration or performance, and in story titles that I hope people will repeat to others. Even in work that's meant to be read, a few bits and bobs can work nicely.
