npub1ccn4ec2s2dmhzu4cthwhy56hcsswk4z3j3kvhlhuvp96phm9zjrqj6czwu (npub1ccn…czwu) When I lived in France, a country that long ago decided to separate Church and State but which remains quite Catholic, their schools have a half day on a Wednesday, so that children could go and study religion if they or their parents wanted on Wednesday afternoons. They also therefore went to school on Saturday mornings to make up the hours. I think this was in both Primary and Secondary schools. What a truly sensible idea! However, it also meant no Nativity plays nor anything religious in the run up to Christmas and Easter or other religious holidays...they just did very very secular things and their 'Christmas' songs for children reflect this. It was most odd for me to begin with.
