This is the thing. Companies are bad about compensating labor corresponding to effort, but good about compensating labor reliably.
So, having a day job and a small business, simultaneously, allows you to funnel some of that excess energy into something where you might eventually be compensated accordingly, while continuing to pay the bills on time.
Reduces the frustration and raises profit, without trying to force the employer to solve this issue for you.
This means I still tend to work too hard at my day job, but I can back off and redirect some energy at my own project, and that keeps the frustration down.
