As I guessed early on, the woman who got the 50K book deal stole the idea from her roommate (also a writer who happens to have the same agent.)
Saw that one coming a mile away.
ETA: I am enjoying the snot out of this book, and plan to buy the next one. So this is not a complaint but an observation.
