Monero is (of course) perfect and written in stone. I doubt anyone can convince the core developers to change anything on it.
For unfaithful zealots like me, I'm still looking for mining that can be done by normal people using their phones and permits creating private tokens on top.
A mix of Signa (mining based on disk space) and Beam (private tokens/coin). My complaint about signa (besides being public) is that disk mining requires large disk images with useless data inside. This is a waste of disk space. In that sense even the FILEcoin tech is making sure you are rewarded for preserving usable data on disk.
Well, those are the things where crypto is crypto by excellence, more than a religious debate about technologies that should keep improving.
