Writer director Roger Towne has died at age 89. He started his career in the 1960s, working for the legendary Roger Corman, became a script doctor, and between 1973 and 1975, wrote three Oscar-nominated screenplays: "The Last Detail," "Shampoo" and "Chinatown," the last of which won the Oscar. Here's a look at his long and largely uncredited career, which included work on the "Mission: Impossible" movies, "Marathon Man" and "The Godfather."
