She's most famous today for The Deluge of several years earlier, a #painting which I've posted here before, but she was so completely sidelined and forgotten, with her meticulous style hewing more toward the Renaissance than 20th-century abstraction, that her decline and eventual death after the London Blitz weren't even announced by an obituary. She only received a true retrospective in 2016, some 70 years later.
