But google took them out of v3 for some reason.
Tho now, that I look at this some more, there's apparently a new kind of protobuf v4 that they're calling the 2023 edition. The newest 2023 edition claims it actually does support extensions.

So looks like what I said before applies only to a narrow slice of the protobuf existence, but is otherwise completely wrong. =P
