This view shows the 177-km-wide crater Petavius, located on the southeastern side of Mare Fecunditatis, on UT 29th November. It's one of the largest craters of Lower (i.e., early) Imbrian age, formed about 3.8 billion years ago. Its most notable feature is the large rille in its southwestern quadrant. This feature is a graben: subsurface forces pushed the land apart and its center sank. #Moon #Lunar #Astrophotography
