If there were a math character set...I'd agree.
There are many math symbols in unicode but one of the problems IMO is that math *isn't* a well thought out organized character set in unicode. There are just symbols sprinkled around, that if you know about them can help make representations of math in text a little more readable.
But I don't know if text can really fully serve the needs of math. Universalization of LaTeX seems to be what we'll need to really write math on computers.
