If an institution is powerful enough that the ownership changing is sufficient to cause major damage to society, the problem isn’t the ownership; it’s the power. The way to resolve it is to regulate the use of power rather than hoping it’ll be owned by someone nice.

E.g. the main sin of TikTok seems to be doing the same bloody awful things American tech companies do thanks to not having decent privacy laws while also having the audacity of not being American.
