They've long been absorved by the machine. It has been that way since the protests on Wall Street against the bankers. Now all those groups are entertained with 1500 different social causes related to gender, being legally recognized as ponnies or whatever random things keeps them busy and "fighting" rather than looking at what really matters in the end.
In my opinion we should indeed take notice, and at the same time organize those few of us left to keep building useful tech, events and things that move the needle on the right direction.
