KDE is easily the best desktop environment now. And it's not even close. It took a while. I actually loved KDE trinity back in the day. But the move to the newer Vista inspired framework kinda broke that love.
Gnome 3 sucked beyond belief and linux was left in a sorta pergatory state.
Some people went back to gnome 2, Ubuntu did it's own retarded thing. Popos made their own gnome shell fork as did mint.
KDE just kept iterating. And eventually it stopped sucking before everyone else.
You know it's actually really easy to write QT apps?
Nobody really does because their license sucks.
Why would you pay QT to sell your app when you can use electron, android, mac, flutter for free?
Just isn't worth it for 99% of developers. Foss devs can write kde just fine though becausefoss apps are exempt.
