Had to run out in the middle of the day to help my son deal with a "hot" beehive (one which is aggressive and prone to sting), and was happy to find our technique for countering these beehives WORKS. The fix is to make a lot of sugar syrup, mixed with lemongrass, in a spray bottle, and to absolutely DRENCH the hive. First, the mix is sprayed into the front entrance to immobilize all of the "guard bees". Next, the lid is popped and every bee on top absolutely drenched with sugar syrup. Finally, you do whatever you need to do with the hive (harvest honey, check frames, etc.). If any bees come out ready to sting or hassle you, sugar syrup mist takes them out. NO sting issues! #beekeeping
