Ladies and gentlemen, it is my honor to present the participation trophy to the Federal Reserve. While we can acknowledge that they deserve criticism for their actions, we must also recognize their continued existence and persistence.
The Federal Reserve has been the subject of much debate and scrutiny in recent times. Most of their decisions and policies have had unintended consequences that have impacted the economy and the public in every way except "good". But you gotta give it them: thanks to them, we now understand what we don't understand about inflation, amirite Mr. Powell?
However, despite these pretty crazy setbacks, the Federal Reserve has continued to exist and operate. In many ways, this participation trophy is a symbol of the Federal Reserve's effort to show up to (and cause) every financial crisis our financial system has seen over the last 109 years. While they may not always acknowledge their shortcomings or take full responsibility for their repeat failures, their existence is a reminder of things are probably gona get worse. And that's somethin.
So, let us give a round of applause to the Federal Reserve for still existing. We know that there is still work to be done, but we have no doubt that this institution will continue do whatever it is they do. Congratulations!
