After running a pleroma instance for a few years, I was able to learn how to maintain it. mostly.
I could add emojis, theme it, prune the data base, etc. But it never felt comfortable, and I never had a full grasp of what i was doing.
After a few days of running a honk instance, I automated maintainace, updates, and cleaning, modified and themed it, and wrote 3 scripts to interact with the api. One to honk a quick honk from the commandline, one to use ed to compose a honk in markdown, and one to honk from the contents of an external file. Plus, no JS required for web viewing. It even looks good in w3m. Dont think ill be going back.
