Yeah, it sounds like what you're looking for. Just set up a donation link in BTC payserver and if you can set either a sliding amount or a set amount and you just send them that button and it'll invoice them for whatever amount you send.
I don't think I've used the donation buttons since the major upgrade, but if I remember correctly that's how it used to work.
