Following the US Judge's order for a discovery referee, a Magistrate Judge was assigned to oversee discovery in my case (through a random assignment process).
Prior to becoming a Judge, she worked as a city attorney for Oakland - where she prosecuted, among other things, code enforcement and nuisance abatement cases. 😎
