I'd say that the inverse problem - underestimating the size of Africa - is a bigger one.
Africa is *huge*. If you count the Middle East as part of Africa rather than Asia, it's *bigger than Asia*, and bigger than Europe, South America and Antarctica combined. Without the ME it's still 3 Europes.
