Ordered some parts. Fingers crossed that the fan actually arrives... It says it'll arrive in a month, and I've had stuff like this just not arrive ever. It took me a couple of days to be sure I was getting all the right stuff and that I'd know how to install it. Fan, RAM, SSD. The fan is most important. The one that died is making the scariest noises I've ever heard, straight out of a horror movie. I hate horror movies. I'm thinking of just taking it out and having no fan there for a month, despite websites warning not to do it. Its not blowing anyways, so can it really hurt?

IF everything goes to plan, I'll be ditching windows for good and my laptop will go from low end to quite high end. The motherboard and CPU are great, but the SSD is junk, and I think that's why it was cheap and why it broke.

The part I couldn't find adequate information on was how to migrate data from an old drive to a new one, with the intention of throwing out the old one - specifically, how to move Windows to the new drive. Since I couldn't find that, I'll just put Linux on the new drive, and I guess I'm assuming that process will direct it to boot from the new drive. IDK. I guess I'll find out.

I have a few days to brush up on my Linux skills, which are quite bad tbh. Not a total stranger, but definitely no wizard.

TBH I'm kinda scared. I haven't done this before. And the documentation for this pooter is absurdly inadequate. Like, how does the manual not have a parts list? I am having to trust a reddit post about which fan to buy because that info isn't listed anywhere... Not anywherrrrrrrrrrrre.

I'm about to remove this fan. Someone tell me if I should put it back. Its not blowing and it's super noisy.
