Git is a fundamental tool in software engineering, but is it just a distraction in research? Is it only tricking me into thinking that I am more productive, because there are always things to do: commit messages to write, pre-commit hooks to update, tests to design and to pass?
Is my simulation code actually going to be read by anyone? Will this person thank me for these rebases and meticulously ordered commits?
Am I actually saving time, or am I wasting it?
