I have friends coming to visit next week. I feel guilty for looking forward to the visit and knowing we will have fun when it seems like we are on the threshold of so much awfulness come later in January. I’m sure my friends feel similarly. We will be torn between enjoying ourselves and feeling as if we should just talk constantly about the state of the country. I know, I know: for our sanity, we will have to strike a balance. It angers me that the coming government intrudes on everything.
