Other than the Nordstream pipeline (maybe), when was the last time we heard of a US submarine, or any nation's submarine, engaged in war activities? Sinking another sub or ship? Launching a missile to destroy anything on land or sea in an act of war?

I think subs are cool. Never been in one, though. Just wondering if they are worth the money spent?

Once worked with a submariner. Good guy, super smart. But he never had any good sub stories. Not even about peacetime activities.
