With UV protection in mind makes most sense to wear the cap backwards only if walking exactly away from the sun, so as to cover some skin on your neck from the uv rays. In any other circumstance, simply wearing it normally (cap front) provides some shade over your forehead and eyes/vision, making the most practical sense.
