With the exception of a few things the fedivese does about 90 percent of what *I* want from social media. I can ask questions about things I care about, see photos of cute cats, find out about neat projects people are working on and get inspired. It's working fine *for me* but it wouldn't work even for most of the other teachers I work with in the math department because they are THIS nerdy.
And the fedi is fragile because it's tiny.
