health update: I had my surgery last week, and after a couple rough days, I’m getting better and stronger every day. pathology confirmed that we got it all with surgery so no further treatment necessary at this time.
but the road to full recovery is a long one. I’m slow walking and get tired easily. And while it’s quite humbling to take breaks when walking up stairs in your own house, it’s infuriating getting nearly knocked over by strangers in public spaces because I’m walking too slow for their taste.
this is not the first time I’ve been mobility impaired and I noticed that I’m treated very kindly when I have an assistive device and with great frustration and rudeness when I’m without one. so I bought a cane even though I don’t really need one, simply to give visibility to my disability. don’t worry, it’s very cool.
