The book of John has many stories of people who met Jesus, literally in the flesh, and only truly believed who he said he was when they witnessed a sign. And John says that "these are written, that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name." Maybe try reading John? I think believing in Jesus is more than just believing that a set of stories are literally true. And I would recommend finding a friend to read it with :)
