I play pikmin with my son. It's an exploration puzzle game where you use a herd of small plant minions to fight monsters, carry treasure, and overcome obstacles.

There are several different colors of pikmin with different abilities. You have to unlock the different colors as you progress through the story.

One time we had just found a new color of pikmin and as I was trying to grow more of them I said "Those are rookie numbers. You gotta pump those numbers in this racket."

When my son asked, I explained to him what rookie means. Now every time he grows new pikmin he says he is getting their rookie numbers up. 🤣
