The hot takes on “Europe forced Apple into USB-C” when Apple has been instrumental since 2015 (and before) in ensuring widespread adoption and further evolution of USB-C, Thunderbolt, and USB is just one of those things reporters seem to get obsessed about. It seems like a natural evolution—maybe Apple would have waited until 2024 models if not for the EU mandate? I don’t know. But Apple has never been LIGHTNIN 4EVER.
