When I used to have Twitter, I had a pretty clear idea of who my followers were: usually Destiny players, some of them game devs or artists, etc.
Ever since I've joined Mastodon, it has been hilariously random. Occasionally I get game devs based on my instance, but a solid chunk are likely infosec, maybe journalists or writers, often furries or transfolk, occasionally environmentalists or anarchists, etc.
I think this is a byproduct of what an algorithm-less social graph looks like.
